This Committee provides oversight and guidance to the Borough Council for the responsibility of all facilities that are used for recreational purposes. They are also responsible for identifying special projects and grants available to the community.
History of the Park
Emmaus (pronounced Ee-may-us) is a small community of homes, public parks, and walkable downtown. Residents enjoy the rich culture, historic sites, and natural assets with easy access to the Allentown – Bethlehem – Easton area.
The borough’s name honors the biblical village of Emmaus, where Jesus visited with followers after his resurrection and crucifixion. The borough’s early industry was iron ore mining and manufacturing.
Today, the primary employer is the Buckeye Pipe Line, which primarily distributes petroleum products. Emmaus is also home to the headquarters of Rodale, Inc., the pioneer of organic lifestyles and publisher of Men’s Health, Runner’s World, and Women’s Health magazine.
The community is served by the Emmaus Area School District, a public school system with one high school (Emmaus High School), two middle schools (Eyer Middle School and Lower Macungie Middle School), seven public elementary schools (Alburtis Elementary School, Jefferson Elementary School, Lincoln Elementary School, Shoemaker Elementary School, Wescosville Elementary School, and Willow Lane Elementary School) and one charter elementary school (Seven Generations Charter School). The district’s students consistently rank among the top academic tier in Pennsylvania.
Outdoor Amenities
There are a lot of things to do at the park, ranging from picnicking and relaxing in the large grassy areas to playing sports on the fields. There is also a summertime outdoor pool and baseball and tennis courts. The park is ideal for viewing the Lehigh Valley and provides areas for studying wildlife as well as biking and hiking trails.
Located on the eastern edge of Emmaus in the Styrer section east of Dalton Street and bordered by Mountain Blvd to the north and Alpine St to the south, Borough Line Park is the perfect place for those who wish to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. There is adequate parking with adjacent bathrooms near the dead end of Alpine St.
There are numerous rules and regulations that one must follow to ensure safety when visiting the park. These include no smoking or use of tobacco, no setting up a booth or table for sale or display without the permission of the Emmaus Borough Council, no swimming in open water, no playing ball, pitching horseshoes, or engaging in archery. Street Parking
A handful of borough truck drivers were urging Emmaus Borough Council last night to reconsider a ban on their trucks parking on borough streets. But the council, with one exception, voted to uphold the ban on all but the smallest of trucks at a meeting in the borough hall.
An ordinance introduced to the borough council Tuesday establishes paid parking kiosks at a municipal lot that the borough controls at 311 Main St. The new regulations also establish a pathway for future expansion of the paid parking program to other borough-controlled lots, according to the ordinance.

The Community Park is on the right. Parking is available in the Schantz Funeral Home Lot on Third Street and free on-street parking is also available.
Events at the Park
There are various events at the Emmaus Community Park PA throughout the year. These include music concerts, movies in the park, and other entertainment. The events are put on by the borough’s Recreation and entertainment commission, the Kelly Arts Group, and various other local volunteers. These events are FREE and open to the public.
Play ball, golf, pitch horseshoes, or engage in any other sports or recreational activity. Camp or otherwise set up a tent, structure, or teepee in any area of the park. Distribute or display any commercial, charitable, political, or other advertisement. Set up any booth or stand for the sale of merchandise or service.
