Talk about a big project!
In January, Revive Power Washing was contacted by a bridge contracting company and asked to submit a bid for the power washing scope of the 8th Street bridge rehab project for PennDot. The complete bridge rehab is an $18 million project for PennDot. The power washing scope is a small portion of the overall project, but it is an important one. This project calls for extensive repairs to the dated concrete arch bridge. Prior to the repair work, the existing structure needs to be washed to remove any contaminants from the surface. This allows the repair patching to bond with the existing concrete and make for a sound finished product. The bridge has a total of 16 spans averaging 135′ long. It is approximately 100′ from the road on the bridge, to the road below.
For this project we will utilize a knuckle boom lift from under the bridge to access the majority of the project. We anticipate the need for some specialized rigging and lift equipment to reach some of the difficult areas. Overall washing of this project is anticipated to take 6 weeks. As of now, we anticipate a start date in May or June of 2014. If you are in the area, keep a look out for us under the bridge.
When the project starts, we will have some very neat video footage to share of what our views are up in the lift while washing the bridge. Watch for the footage on our Facebook and Youtube pages.
